Marxism, developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the nineteenth century, is a system of philosophical, political, and economic thought that seeks to analyze critically the development of capitalism and to propose its revolutionary transformation.
Marxism is, at its core, a total ideology that claims to unify philosophy, history, economics, and politics in a single system. It is not “rather” one thing or another: it is a synthesis on purpose.
However, if the distinction is forced, its dominant character is political, and economics functions as its justificatory foundation and its tool of legitimation. It is a political-historical doctrine that uses an economic analysis as a weapon.
Its principles are divided fundamentally into three dimensions, and each one will be analyzed on a separate page, one after another in this course.
